Im Grüntal claims they are not the most expensive beer garden in Munich. Maybe they only seem to be. Plenty of class and plenty of big name visitors from movie and TV land frequent this place, perhaps giving rise to popular opinion. But conventional wisdom notwithstanding, Im Grüntal is worth the price (currently about € 6.80 a Maß of beer). This place has an idyllic setting right out of a Thoreau novel (complete with babbling brook). The outside beer garden allows not imported food, but provides excellent service at a decent price. Inside, haute cuisine ala Francais adds to the bottom line price of many of the menu items. So, if the day is nice, stay outside anyway and enjoy Im Grüntal, weighing in with a 3-1/2-beer rating.
