We had just about given up on Hirschau after several years of neglect from previous management boarded up the place. We actually dropped it completely from the 4th Edition of The BDG2M. Then the Schottenhammels, one of Munich's most experienced restaurant hospitality famliies, put Hirschau back on the beer-drinking map, just in time for the 5th Edition. Reopened again in 2002, it's back and we're glad about that. The new management has completely gutted the existing structure and started over; reconstituted the beer garden and revamped the menu. They have put Humpty Dumpty together again and handed him a beer. If you remember the way Hirschau was before, you certainly wouldn't recognize it today. And that is a good thing. Hirschau has reassumed its place as one of Englischer Garten's most prized beer gardens. We welcome it back with 4 beers.
