Hofbräu Keller shares the name but not the fame of the Hofbräuhaus. Locally, though, Munich's beerhall and beer garden crowd might list this place as their favorite Hofbräu of any kind. As the name suggests, this is more beer garden than beerhall, but it has plenty of both to make it worthwhile. Also, steady improvements, DECLINING beer prices (this is not a typo) have increasingly raised our assessment and ratings over the years. Incongruously, it sports a cellar cocktail lounge that is a meeting place for Munich's aging jet setters. In fact on any weekend evening, you'll find enough lounge lizards in attendance to populate an entire Lawrence Welk concert (ask your grandparents). Hofbräu Keller is getting better, but we have it now at 3 1/2 beers.
