beer garden

Kugler Alm is the spot where in 1922 Franz Xaver Kugler "invented" the Radler Maß, a concoction of half beer and half lemon-lime soda (i.e., "7-Up"). That may not seem like much of a claim to eternal fame until you consider that today a radler is a favorite among Munich beer drinkers who want to be able to enjoy their beer and stick around to enjoy yet another. We finally found a short-cut from Furth S-Bahn station that will cut the hike to get to Kugler Alm to a manageable 20 minutes or so. Thus, this otherwise worthy but isolated beer garden is now within reach and has made the pages of the fifth edition of The BDG2M. Kugler Alm is a wonderful beer garden, with plenty of space and tradition behind it. It gets 4-1/2 beers and a strong recommendation to follow our map and take a short-cut to get there.
