Leiberheim has a military past and tradition, since it was founded soon after the end of World War I as a club house and meeting place for veterans. Thus the reference in the name to the Royal Bavarian Leibregiment. The uniform and Iron Cross of one of its founders that was formerly on display in a case inside the restaurant is now in a military museum in Chiemgau. Managment has made major improvements the past few years. The beer garden was always one of Munich's largest, but now it's also one of Munich's best. Leiberheim stands at attention with a 4-1/2-beer rating.
